In March, we found out we would be moving to Tulsa, OK in June for Taylor's work. It was very bittersweet. After school ended in May, we drove to Tulsa to look for a house to rent. We found a house which was our first blessing. Our moving date was June 16th. My mom came out the first of that week and helped us pack and move! The Roberts drove up to Alamogordo to help us pack the Uhaul. That was our 2nd blessing! Once we got to Tulsa my dad was there and had some movers to help unload the Uhaul. That was our 3rd blessing! My parents spent the weekend (Father's Day) with us helping unpack a ton of boxes. We had a blast showing them around Tulsa. On Monday they drove back to Bham. The next day Teal and I drove back for two weeks while Taylor traveled to El Paso for 2 weeks.<br />

I loved the time spent at home. My family and I went down to Panama City the first weekend I was home and we took Teal on the boat for the first time. She LOVED the beach. It was then that she became a water dog! While in Birmingham I was able to be there to celebrate Mom and Dad's birthdays. I also was able to see a lot of my friends and spend time just relaxing. I didn't have to worry about unpacking ONE box! HA<br />

So it has almost been a year since I have posted on our blog. With my first year of teaching last year I was just too busy to blog so I apologize for not keeping yall informed. I am going to try to stay on top of it this next year! The Lord has continued to bless Taylor and I this past year. I had a great 1st year of teaching in Alamogordo. I loved my job and my kiddos. What a blessing they were and continue to be in my life. We had a wonderful 1st Thanksgiving with my parents and a great 1st Christmas with Taylor's family. We were there to experience the birth of sweet Charlotte Anne (we weren't there for the actual birth, but was able to see her a few days later) in December. We we able to see our nephew, Row, for the first time over Christmas. We had some friends come out and go skiing with us for New Years which was an adventure in itself. We experienced a snow/ ice storm for the first time. We celebrated our 1st anniversary in the mountains, as well as, Teal's 1st birthday in February. Taylor killed his 1st turkey last spring and we were able to explored Colorado with the Roberts in May. Looking back we couldn't have had a better year and 1/2 in Alamogordo, NM. The time spent there was precious. There are defiantly days we miss it. Here are some pictures that highlight the past year...<br />

For weeks, Taylor went back and forth about getting one. We couldn't resist with the moutians being so close to us. We have been able to see so much more than we would have ever been able to see without it. We have been up every weekend since we got it and have already put 131 miles on it. Taylor built a little platform on the back so that Teal can sit behind us when we ride. She is a champ at riding too. <br />

Rowland Edward Thorn was brought into this world. Taylor got a call early Thursday morning from his mom that Lesley went into labor early Thursday morning. All day we waited and waited. Around 2:30 Rowland was born. He weighed 7lbs and was 20.5 inches long. We are so excited for Mitch and Lesley and cannot wait to meet him ourselves.<br />

We had a blast. On Saturday morning, we headed out to White Sands. We took turns sledding down the dunes and pulling Braxton behind the truck on the sled. He had more fun sledding behind the truck than he did sledding down the dunes! Ha After heading to White Sands, we showed them my school and classroom. Braxton wanted to stay and help teach the class with me. On Sunday, we headed up to Cloudcroft. We hiked a little on the Rim trail and then headed back into town for a good Southern Barbecue lunch. Later that afternoon, we took them to Bluff Springs where Braxton and I got in the creek with Teal. We enjoyed spending time with them and showing them around our town. We cooked out Sunday night and watched Pirates of the Caribbean. We were sad to see them leave on Monday. <br />

A lot has happened. I mean A LOT. From July till now I have started teaching, Jordan and Jake are married, Mrs. Susanne and Braxton have visited, T and I have become an aunt and uncle, we have purchased a fourwheeler, Taylor has turned 25, and our pup is now 7 months old. <br />
After returning back from the beach Fourth of July weekend, I started working hard on my classroom. Mom came in July and helped me for a few days. We worked for 3 days straight organizing papers, hanging posters, arranging desks, etc. We were pooped by the end of it all. <br />

It was such a great weekend. Nothing can beat a weekend with the girls. We layed out in the 104 degree, caught up on life, ate out, and celebrated Jordan all weekend. We were determined to get some good tans for the wedding. We went to dinner both nights. Red Bar was our first night out and Baytowne was our last night out! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I was able to see my Grandparents as well that weekend. It was so great to see them considering I hadn't seen them since February. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Two weeks after Jordan's Bachelorette, I headed back to Alabama for Jordan and Jake's wedding. I don't think I have ever done so much flying in one month! It was such a fun time with great friends. The wedding festivies began Friday mid morning with the Bridesmaid luncheon, getting our nails done, rehearsal at the Sonnet House, and rehearsal dinner as well. It was such a fun time to celebrate Jordan and Jake. Saturday we all met at the Sonnet House around 2:30 to get ready and take pictures. It ended up raining that afternoon but cleared up JUST in time for the ceremony. Everything went well without a hitch. Well, except for all the girls getting on the bed in the bride's room and breaking the bed! whoops! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">On August 16, 2010, I met all 24 of my 3rd graders for the first time.I was a nervous wreck. It is a weird feeling when you close that door after the bell as rang and it is just you and 24 children looking back at you. The first day went very well. In fact, the first week went surprisenly well. Don't get my wrong, there has definitely been days that I have been tested, but that is just part of it. I have defiantly shed tears, but the smiles have outshown the tears. It is such a blessing and joy to teach these 24 children. I wish all of you could meet them. We have a lot to learn and to look forward too this year.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Pictures to come of classroom...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

It was a trip just to get there due to Hurricane Alex, but once we were there we were so happy. We hadn't seen Taylor's family since we have been married and moved off so it was a very emotional homecoming. Every year his whole family (Grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) goes down for the whole week of the 4th. As some of you know, Taylor's granddad died a year ago on the 2nd so we weren't able to do the "whole week beach thing" last year. This year was tough but it was such a refresher for everybody. We laid by the pool all day Saturday, once we got there, and most of the day Sunday. On the 4th, we always get together with other family and have a huge late lunch/early dinner meal. After our meal we all went and played putt putt and rode go-karts. Monday and Tuesday it rained but didn't stop us. Taylor and I were so glad to see everybody. It was like we haven't skipped a beat with all of his family. We walked on the beach, which we hadn't done in forever, ate good food, watched movies, and much much more! It was soo good to be with family and be MARRIED. It was really hard coming back this time though. It was not easy for both of us. We are so happy leaving out here and it has been awesome for our marriage but having times like this makes it hard to see that clearly. We know we will be back but it just makes it tough. We have settled back into reality though and look forward to what is to come!<br />

It was such a wonderful refresher. I spent a whole week hanging out, eating, shopping, celebrating, and just being at home. We celebrated Michelle's bday and engagement, Mom's bday, and Jordan's wedding festivities!! It was a nonstop week. Mom and I went up to Cullman for a day and 1/2 to spend time with my Ninnie. We ate with my mom side of the family and celebrated Mom's bday. I was able to get all the places I had to been craving out in New Mexico out of my system too. I enjoyed eating Jim N Nicks, Tazikis, California Pizza Kitchen, Surin West, Panera Break, and many more! For the first time I was able to be apart of Jordan's wedding festivities. It has been hard living way out here and having one of your best friend getting married because I feel like I can't contribute to anything. I was able to go to her dress fitting and be apart of her lingerie shower. It was so great to catch up and see people that mean soo much to me. Although I didn't want the week to end, I was ready to head back and see my hubby and puppy. When I got home Taylor had grilled salmon, esparagus, and grilled onions for our dinner and also had gotten me flowers. It was delicious. I have the BEST husband in the world.<br />

Well I am almost a month behind on my blogging so I guess it is time I get back on it. We have been so busy these past three weeks that they have flown by. My parents made their first trip out together (mom has already come out once) on the 17th of June. Taylor was already off on Friday of that weekend so we were both able to hang out with them for a three day weekend. It was NONSTOP. If you know my dad you know that the Brocks don't mess around. We were on the go the whole weekend. We rode mtn bikes in Cloudcroft, hiked, grilled out, went out to eat, played with pup, took books to my school, shopped in Ruidoso, explored, and went to White Sands. The four of us had the BEST time together. When my parents flew in on Thursday afternoon they were able to meet Teal for the first time. They loved her and she loved them. She especially loved hanging around Mom (a.k.a. Nanna). She would follow her wherever she went.<br />

On our way to Alamogordo we stopped in Orogrande to show Mom and Dad Taylor's job site. Later that night we grilled out steaks and enjoyed a nice evening on our 4x6 foot concrete patio. On Friday, we all went up to Cloudcroft to go hiking and mtn biking. Since Dad is having surgery on his shoulder, he let Taylor borrow is mtn bike for a while. Taylor was so excited. Our first trail we tried was quite an expert's trail. It was tough to say the least..haha but Taylor stuck with it and LOVED it.<br />

We hung around up there till about dinner time and came back to Alamo. We took Mom and Dad to our favorite spot, Pizza Patio, and enjoyed some great Pizza.<br />

On Saturday we decided to ride around town on our bikes and show dad the town. We came back and grabbed mom and Teal and headed up to Ruidoso. We ate at a really good place for lunch and shopped around. Saturday night we were exhausted so instead of cooking we ended up going to our other local favorite Chili's! haha Sunday (Father's Day) we had a lot to do so we woke up early and enjoyed a cup of Joe on our little patio. We started our busy day by going to White Sands. Mom and Dad couldn't believe how beautiful the park was!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpqr4VHAO9dJkouX-gdDOD45ID9ZZz8ezUA8_cfZXwDP0tOiLSvEi5wl7Sd-wVW5bb5YevvwZZitVYafhnfufvH07I18nzbeLCIuc9bcA5FjvWyTzmwlO2YVft7jV6T4ygwlm47fEoW1U/s1600/IMG_0142.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><br />

We then came back and loaded up all by boxes to take to the school. Mom and Dad loved my school. They couldn't get over that I could see the mountains out my windows. Dad wanted us to go mtn biking again so we headed up to Cloudcroft for the second time. Taylor and I hit the trail while Mom and Dad hung out with Teal. The trip didn't last long cause I def. went over my handlebars and crashed. We headed back to Alamo and Taylor cooked some amazing ribs for Father's Day.<br />

We just really enjoyed hanging out with my parents and showing them around the town we now live in. It was neat for them to see our house, job site, and school. Here are some awesome pictures David Roberts took of Teal when we went camping the other weekend. I cannot believe we have had her for over 2 months. She now weighs 19 lbs and her paws are still HUGE! She has a lot of growing to do. She really has become her own little self. We took her to our favorite spot "Pizza Patio" the other day. She was able to sit on the patio with us and she did an awesome job. She is (for right now--lets don't jinks it) a very well-tempered dog around other people. She has started fetching more, which Taylor is thrilled. We are looking forward to see what else we have in store for us. The things we are working on now is "laying down" and "Knee." We cannot say "Heal" because it so close to her name so we have decided to use "Knee."<br />

Last weekend we went camping with the Roberts in Cloudcroft! We had the best time. We defiantly wanted to get out of Alamogordo and El Paso (where Chelsea and David are living) because the projected weather was 108 degrees! So we loaded up early Saturday morning and headed up there. David took us to a spot him and his brothers had hunted at, which was in the middle of nowhere! We had to 4wheel drive it to get to our spot. We set up camp, ate lunch, and went for a hike with all the dogs when we got there. Teal loved it because they brought their two labs and she had a blast annoying the stew out of them. The rest of the afternoon, we just hung out around the camp fire. On Sunday, we cooked an awesome breakfast and packed up camp. The Robert's showed us the waterfall up in Cloudcroft and the dogs were able to swim some. Teal wasn't too sure about the water, which kinda disappointed us at first; but she is a little young so she will warm up to it! We were exhausted when we got home. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Chelsea and David and their pups. Can't wait to do it again!<br />

This Memorial Day weekend was one of a kind. T and I had been thinking about all the different things we could do since we had a four day weekend together (T was off Friday too!). Flying to the beach, driving to the Grand Canyon, or staying in a cabin were all ideas that ran through our heads. The beach was going to cost us around 1600 dollars so we said no thanks to that! We decided we were a little behind the ball on planning for the Grand Canyon and everybody else had the cabin idea so everything was booked. So we just decided to chill around Alamogordo. On Friday, we really just enjoyed spending time together. We went out to lunch, took Teal to the vet, got all my teacher editions from the school, went to the park with Teal, played tennis, took a 4 hour nap, and watched a movie. It was a well needed day together. On Saturday we decided we would go hiking up in Cloudcroft. That was the best idea we had. We took Teal with us, of course, and she LOVED it. She did really well too. It was about 20 degrees cooler then what it was in Alamogordo so it was amazing all around. We drove around and noticed that there were come campsites that were still vacant so we decided we would camp out Sunday night. When we got home Saturday we got all of the camping stuff my parents had let us borrow and saw that we had everything we needed.<br />

Sunday morning we loaded everything up and headed for Cloudcroft. We had a BLAST! We set up camp, ate lunch, went hiking, rode bikes, grilled out, hung out by the fire, and ate s'mores. We got up Monday morning and cooked a yummy breakfast. Then we packed everything up and went for our last hike. We had to carry Teal some of the way cause she was pooped. The best part about the whole weekend though was finding this BBQ restaurant in Cloudcroft that was owned by a family from ALABAMA! Crazy uhh? It was the best thing we had put in our mouths since we have moved here. It was like walking into a place at home. You could feel the "southerness" when you walked in. AMAZING. We will defiantly be back!<br />

I have known for a while but couldn't say anything till I found out "officially"last week that I am going to be the new 3rd grade teacher at Buena Vista Elementary School here in Alamogordo. I couldn't be more excited. I have been floating on cloud nine for about a month now. It has been really hard not to say anything to anybody but now I can. It is crazy how it has all worked out. It is amazing how things fall into place when you let the Lord do HIS will. For so long I have tried to do my will, but every since Taylor has gotten this job and we have moved 1200 miles away I have given everything up to Him. Again I have to say it is evident He wants us here!<br />
It is crazy how all of this has come about. When we first moved here I went around and passed my resumes out and introduced myself to the principals. I was subbing on Friday in April and Mrs. Korbakes, the principal, stopped me and asked me if I wanted to interview the following Tuesday. I was shocked. Of course I said yes. So Tuesday rolled around and I was extremely nervous. The interview went well and she told me she would let me know by the end of the following week. That Friday came and I received a call asking if I could come in for a second interview. I was like WHAT!! So the following week I went in for the 2nd interview. I was to present to the principal and 3 other teachers how I would instruct my reading block, math block, and what my discipline plan. You can say I was a TAD nervous (haha more like extremely nervous) but I did feel prepared. So that Friday rolled around and I gave it all I had. The next couple weeks I kept hearing good news though some little "flies" on the walls -ha. I wasn't about to get my hopes up although I new those "flies" were good sources. So finally on May 23rd almost a month after I had my interview I got a call from Human Resources asking me if I would except the job! I said YES! So I will be teaching 3rd grade in the fall and cannot wait to meet my little munchkins. I couldn't be more excited about working with the staff that is at Buena Vista. Everybody I have met is awesome! I have already seen the classroom I will be in and have started working on my theme. I am trying to create a nautical theme in my classroom... we will see how that goes! ha Tomorrow we have our first meeting on our new reading program. I am looking forward to it. Please keep me in your prayers as I start this journey. Thank so much.<br />

Taylor and I got the opportunity to go to the Brooks and Dunn concert in Las Cruces, which was their last tour. It was AMAZING. That sums it all up. Before Brooks and Dunn played, Jason Aldean (who is my all time favorite country singer) played. He was amazing too. It is crazy but they all sounded better live than on cd. A lot of times I don't like going to concerts because the artist don't sound as good in person as they do on the radio or cd, BUT not in this case. We didn't want it to end. We ended up making an afternoon out of it. Mike Simms, a friend of Taylor's from work, met us in Alamogordo and went with us. When we got to Las Cruces we went to Buffalo Wild Wings to eat an early dinner before the concert. The boys wanted to go play pool since we had a couple hours before the concert so we went and played pool. Taylor realized once he got there that he didn't have the tickets. They had been in his back pocket the whole time and now they weren't there. We all freaked out. Taylor decided to go back to Buffalo wild wings and he found them in the PARKING LOT! Talk about grace wow! We got to the concert like an hour before it started and the line was all the way down the interstate....crazy! The concert was sold out! We had awesome seats (thanks Simms) and just had a wonderful time together. For once I knew most of their songs! We really didn't want it to end. It was an awesome end to a wonderful weekend.<br />

T, Teal, and I had a wonderful weekend spending time with friends. On Friday afternoon, Teal and I loaded everything up and headed down to meet T in Orogrande (the little town he works in). Of course I was late so when I got there 10 guys were waiting to get going. I felt bad but thankfully they hadn't been there long! We all loaded up in like 4 different polaris' and 2 for-wheeler and headed up the mountain to go look at the mine caves. The scenery was UNBELIEVABLE. We rode for awhile to all these different places. Teal had a blast too. There was another dog, Shadow, there so she was able to associate with another dog. She rode right in between T and I in the polaris. Her tongue was sticking out the whole time and her nose never stopped working. She was like in heaven and we loved watching her explore for the first time. We had a blast just hanging out with friends and riding around.<br />

On Saturday, Taylor and I cleaned the house to get ready for the Webers to arrive in Alamogordo. We were super pumped that they were going to stop through on their way to San Diego and spend an afternoon and night with us. Bosco and Teal got to meet each other and play. They arrived around 4 on Saturday and we headed to the pistachio and wine tasting place. We drove them around town and showed them around. They couldn't believe the gravel yards and funky trees. When we got back home we grilled out steaks and hung out on our 6 by 4 foot patio. The dogs played, played, and played. They slept so well during the night. Sunday we got up around 7:00 because the Weber's still had 13 hours worth of driving and we cook breakfast while they packed up and got ready. It was really sad to see them leave but it was an awesome glimpse of home. Thanks soooo much you guys for stopping and staying with us! It meant sooo much:) We love yall Webers!!!<br />

Since we have gotten our baby (Teal), Taylor and I haven't had much time to ourselves. Having this puppy is seriously like having a child. It is definitely preparing us for parenthood. We NEVER thought we could love a dog this much though. She has been the best decision we have made (except getting married...of course) yet. At first, I wondered if it was too early to get her, but I don't think it is ever too early. She is one spoiled pup that's for sure. Her favorite thing to do is to get in bed with us and then once she falls asleep one of us puts her in her crate before we turn out the lights. In the morning, she eats her breakfast and then goes and sits at the end of the bed! She loves to wake Taylor up! She also will go and sit outside in the morning and listen to the birds. Haha Back to my point... So Friday, I was dying for a date, just the two of us too! We went to Pizza Patio and had the best dinner. Not only was the food good but our time together was awesome. We mention how we miss home and our friends a lot; but being out here has been awesome for us and our marriage. I wouldn't regret being out here for anything. Please come visit:)<br />

Lesley and Mitch found out Friday they are having a BOY! So we will have a nephew to spoil! I think Taylor and I were just as excited as them to find out. We wish we were closer so we could be there to see Mitch and Lesley and to see him when he is born. On Saturday, Taylor, Teal, and I went to Las Cruces to shop. I am in LOVE with Target and Las Cruces has the best one yet! Since we know what the sex of the baby is now I can start shopping for him! We went and got him two little onsies! There wasn't that cute of stuff, which I was shocked, but we def. didn't walk out empty handed. They are naming him Rowland Edward Thorn and he is due October 3rd. What is so crazy is we are actually heading back home to go to a wedding (David and Nicole's) that weekend so we are hoping we can just hit two birds with one stone and get to see him. We are praying for him that he will be a healthy baby.Sarah Jane Thornhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01130599349182528716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-718239347160961237.post-62441030763913901322010-05-11T16:27:00.001-06:002010-05-11T18:51:37.472-06:001st trip out<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZvkZLCusxutHTaB0c0JIJ-T80BVZSxrWy9xypYHqfROXBXPoVjd0tda7zcm3rBnkqGUP9dYBc_xCa3AlkBE-1i_TkGDCML3HZHaA7blIgtCQ9t0CNNp1u3lkKMX-weR9EPoI_fPTlL9s/s1600/IMG_8156.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZvkZLCusxutHTaB0c0JIJ-T80BVZSxrWy9xypYHqfROXBXPoVjd0tda7zcm3rBnkqGUP9dYBc_xCa3AlkBE-1i_TkGDCML3HZHaA7blIgtCQ9t0CNNp1u3lkKMX-weR9EPoI_fPTlL9s/s320/IMG_8156.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>So our first trip out, besides riding in the car and going to the vet, was to HOME DEPOT! Teal will be 9 weeks old tomorrow. I can't believe we have had her for 2 weeks now. She is so funny and just a bundle of joy to have. She is growing more and more each day. She is doing somewhat better not pottying in her crate, but still has accidents. I don't think I have ever washed that many towels in a week. Our washer has been going non-stop (which could be a bad thing when we get our water bill) ha. She is doing GREAT in the house though. We leave our back door open a lot so she just knows to go outside now. Even when the door is shut she goes and sits by it to let us know she needs out. Her biting has gotten so much better as well. She rarely will bite (which is a puppy thing) and if she does we say "NO BITE!" Next week, I am taking to go get her 9 weeks shot so maybe we can get out a little more. We have been kinda stranded at the house because we don't wont her to get parvo. Taylor and I want her to be to expose to has much as she can be. We are ready to show her off and take her places. Her new thing is to fall asleep in bed with us while we watch our shows and then we put her in her crate and she doesn't get back in bed with us until I get up and feed her in the morning and then she goes and wakes up T! She is still getting up during the night and we take her out to potty and put her right back in her kennel. She wines for about 10 minutes and then she goes to sleep. It is like having a baby that's for sure... exhausting but well worth it!<br />

I can't believe it is already Wednesday. Having Teal here always keeps me on my toes. She is like a baby... all she does is sleep, eat, poop, chew, and play. She has done really well with pottying (sp?) outside and not much in the house. I think it is because I am always right on top of her so if she dares to squat I will grab her! She is sleeping much better at night. She is still getting up 2 times a night but she goes right outside and potties. Yesterday I came home and she hadn't gone to the bathroom in her kennel. I was soooo excited. We played for a long time until she feel asleep in my lap. I laid her on our bed hoping she would stay asleep so I could fold the huge pile of laundry on our bed and clean the house as well. She was out till Taylor came home. I found myself tip toeing around so I wouldn't wake her! Haha Last night I didn't have the energy to cook dinner so Taylor and I splurged and got Chinese takeout ( which was horrible!). We have laughed at ourselves because we are very paranoid parents! We have to remind ourselves she is a D-O-G (we just don't like to tell her that)! haha Last night we took her out to go potty and two girls from across the street came over and wanted to see Teal. Taylor and I have been really paranoid about Parvo ( a disease that will kill puppies if they have not gotten all their shots) so we nonchalantly asked if they had any dogs and they didn't so we were like whooo. The little girl wanted to take her home..haha! All she wanted to do was hold her too. We finally told them we had to go feed her and the little girl wanted to come feed her. She really didn't want to leave. We told them that we would be out this weekend so if they wanted to come over they could. So we will probably have a visiter every afternoon from now on and this weekend. Haha She is a little butterball and I love her to death!! She is so neat to just watch. Wish all of yall could meet her.<br />

We pretty much were in the car all yesterday riding back from Estancia (where we got her) and then we had to head down to T's job site to check the water tank! She got to explore the house for a while and then explored the job site! I think she is loving her new home. Last night was a test of patience. We went to bed early because we had gotten up at 6:00 to go get her and we thought she would be tired and sleep well..... that didn't really work as planned. Ha So at 9:15 she was pooped so we put her in her kennel ( her "castle") which was in our room. At 10:00 she started barking, pouting, and squealing. I took her out and she didn't have to go potty so we went back to bed. Well from 10:00 to 11:00 she barked, pouted and squealed again but this time for an HOUR! Taylor and I both looked like Owen Wilson in "Marly and Me" with our pillows folded over our ears! haha So after the hour of barking, pouting, and squealing we moved the kennel, with her in it, into the bathroom. We shut the door and turned on the ipod. She soon went back to sleep. She got up 1 more time around 1:15 and stopped barking after 10 minutes. At 6:00 we ended up just getting up with her and playing with her. We had to head back down to Oregrande to check the water on the job site this morning. Teal shared the driver seat with T and slept there and back.<br />

When we got home Chelsea, David, Mrs. Roberts, and Steven came by on their way home to meet Teal. She loved being loved on and cuddle with them all. It was great seeing the Roberts because it was like a little taste of home once again! Hopefully tonight will be a better night! haha<br />

I had put a whole chicken in the crock-pot yesterday morning and came up with the idea of chicken enchiladas! So I started looking online and found this real easy recipe. I wanted to share it because it is something different and GOOD. Oh! and It is also REALLY EASY!<br />

Meet Tealy (Teal) Grace Thorn! We are so excited about picking up our new little baby on Saturday (April 17th). We have been puppy proofing the house and getting our home already for her. We battled back and forth about her name and finally decided on Tealy, but we will call her Teal ( for those of you who aren't hunters "Teal" is the name of a duck like a "mallard." We are picking her up on the 49th day and will begin puppy preschool when she comes home! haha For those of you who have had labs, we are both reading "Water Dog" and "Game Dog" written by Richard Wolters to get prepared. This is still kind of a surprise that we are getting her this soon but it also fell into our laps and we couldn't be happier. Taylor and I had been researching for about a month now and we couldn't find anywhere near here that had labs. Thursday he came home with one website he had found that had one black female left! I called the breeder and she explained that there was a lady who was a teacher that was coming to look at her on Sunday. The only problem is the teacher wanted the breeder to keep the puppy till she was out of school. The breeder didn't think that was fair to the puppy so she allowed us to come look at her Saturday. Mom went with us and we just all fell in love. The teacher ended up just wanting to wait on a puppy so we were able to put a deposit down on her. Taylor is real big on getting her the 49th day so that would be this Saturday! The breeder said we could get the pick if we drove up there again to pick her up. We said, "We will see you Saturday!" We are soooooo excited. There will be many updates so get ready!Sarah Jane Thornhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01130599349182528716noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-718239347160961237.post-29099749155423642582010-04-12T17:25:00.000-06:002010-04-12T17:25:09.797-06:00Mom First Visit :)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht70LYTxZ43cc7pAFVKIaMPNCDTqm1PfsQkY51XGPm8TbVNJtiugHGFB1QEJTJr0PG5wcUjEhyphenhyphenJMxSSXqj4AlVEm4VhyRpKf1Ogws0Ka4WHAIssu2jrInfdDaL6XsACz2OyHyTG1JHEF0/s1600/IMG_7860.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht70LYTxZ43cc7pAFVKIaMPNCDTqm1PfsQkY51XGPm8TbVNJtiugHGFB1QEJTJr0PG5wcUjEhyphenhyphenJMxSSXqj4AlVEm4VhyRpKf1Ogws0Ka4WHAIssu2jrInfdDaL6XsACz2OyHyTG1JHEF0/s320/IMG_7860.JPG" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifpNlCPtNKs0r7GKB9pGbizzzOg8BaKB3NESHgMz9vqecnN3d27NnknffoBpQ0dTGbY2JupW809lzZb-F5h8-_OIdgsWSUHiQtZXKtSv_z7-Cs7u0UyIDWazrGsybz_8iGAjYOwmBRoOM/s1600/IMG_7803.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifpNlCPtNKs0r7GKB9pGbizzzOg8BaKB3NESHgMz9vqecnN3d27NnknffoBpQ0dTGbY2JupW809lzZb-F5h8-_OIdgsWSUHiQtZXKtSv_z7-Cs7u0UyIDWazrGsybz_8iGAjYOwmBRoOM/s320/IMG_7803.JPG" /></a></div>Mom, T, and I had a wonderful week together. It went by way too fast though!! It was so great to see Mom at the airport on Wednesday that we both cried when we saw each other, which was expected. Mom and I went to Costco in El Paso before heading up to Alamogordo. I took her by the "The" fence which divides Mexico from the U.S. It is crazy how different it looks and it is just several feet away. When we arrived in Alamogordo, she finally got to see our house and the town for the first time! T came home shortly after we got home and we grilled out steaks. It was so great to have mom sit at our kitchen table and enjoy a meal with us. On Thursday, we headed up to Ruidoso where we shopped in all the little stores. We enjoyed chatting and catching up while riding up the mountain. Mom loved the beautiful countryside. When we arrived in Ruidoso we ate at this quaint little cafe, The Buttery. It was so good!<br />

They were delicious. We thought the huge pistachio was hilarious because all we could think of was the huge peach in Clanton, AL.<br />

Friday, we headed to Las Cruces so we could go to Bed Bath and Beyond and find some curtians. We had a successful trip and headed back home. Mom loved the scenery all around us. Taylor got off work early on Friday so he was able to spend some time with us too. For dinner we headed to our new favorite spot, Pizza Patio. We sat outside and enjoyed some great pizza!<br />

We were all very impressed with the ranch and decided to put down a deposit for our new little puppy! I felt bad that we drove all that way with mom being here, but if we hadn't we wouldn't have been able to get our new little baby. Mom was so glad to meet her anyways and we just made a great trip out of it. We got back later that afternoon and mom wanted to just hang out at the house and watch the sunset since it was her last night. We hated to head to the airport, but we had to go back to reality. It was hard to watch mom walk away and go through security. It was a little taste of home and it made me miss all of our friends and family. We are excited about Mom AND Dad coming out in June to visit though. It will be here before we know it. We will be heading to White Sands and Cloudcroft (the two most popular attractions in Alamogordo that we didn't even take mom to!) when they are here. They will get to meet our new little addition as well. We couldn't ask for better parents. It is tough being way out here, but we know they will always be there for us. We love yall Mom and Dad!<br />
